Ira Givol is a devoted chamber musician.  He plays both modern and baroque cello, as well as the Viola Da Gamba.  As a founding member of the Tel Aviv Trio he has won many awards, including the first prize at Concours International de Musique de Chambre de Haute Alsace (France), and prizes at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition (Australia), Vittorio Gui International Chamber Music Competition (Italy), the Città di Trapani International Chamber Music Competition (Italy), the Joseph Joachim Competition (Germany), and the Erst-Klassik Competition (Germany). The Tel Aviv Trio was the winner of the 2006 Israeli Ministry of Education award for Chamber Music.  He has played in some of the world's most spectacular concert halls, including the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Auditorium du Louvre in Paris, the Kennedy Center in Washington, Jordan Hall in Boston, the Wallace Collection in London, the Conde Duque in Madrid, the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen, and other major concert halls throughout Israel, Europe, North America, South America, Southeast Asia and Australia. Currently Ira is a member of the "Amber trio" (Jerusalem), as well as a member of the contemporary music ensemble Kaprizma.  He has been principle cellist of the Tel Aviv Soloists’ ensemble since 2007, and joined the Israeli Contemporary String Quartet in the following year.

Ira is a member of Trio VIS (cello, flute and piano). The trio is the 2009 winner of the “Boris Pergamenchikov” competition in Berlin, Germany

Ira has performed as a soloist with Israel’s leading orchestras, including the Israel Symphony Orchestra, The Thelma-Yellin Orchestra, The Israel Conservatory Orchestra, and the Young Israeli Philharmonic, and recently with the Tel Aviv Soloists’ Ensemble. As a soloist, Ira is a two-time winner of the Ben-Haim Competition, and The Israel Conservatory of Music Competition.

Ira is a member of the baroque groups, La Mela Di Newton (NYC), and SirMoro (Germany), with whom he won a prize at the Concerto Barocko Competition (Germany).  Ira is also playing with several leading baroque groups around the globe, both on Gamba and Cello. Among them are Academia Daniel (Israel), Il Gardellino (Belgium), Koelner Akademie (Germany), Bach Soloists (Israel), “Me La Amargates tu” (The Netherlands).

Ira is a graduate of the "outstanding young musicians program" of the Jerusalem music center.  In 2005-6, he was a student of Lawrence Lesser and Vivian and Donald Weilerstein at the New England Conservatory in Boston.  Ira graduated from his studies with Frans Helmerson at the Musikhochschule Köln at 2005, as well as his Baroque Cello and Viola Da Gamba studies with Rainer Zipperling in 2007. 

Ira is playing on a Collin Mezin cello, lent to him by the America-Israel cultural foundation.
