

Born in Israel in 1979, Ira has performed as a soloist with Israel’s leading orchestras including The Israel Symphony Orchestra, The Thelma-Yellin Orchestra,The Israel Conservatory Orchestra and the young israeli Philharmonic. As a founding member of the Tel Aviv Trio He won First Prize at the Concours International de Musique de Chambre de Haute Alsace and prizes at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, Vittorio Gui International Chamber Music Competition in Florence, the Città di Trapani International Chamber Music Competition, the Joseph Joachim Competition, and the Erst-Klassik Competition in Germany. The Tel Aviv Trio is the winner of the 2006 Israeli Ministry of Education award for Chamber Music. With the trio he has played in some of the world's most spectacular concert halls, including the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Auditorium du Louvre in Paris, the Kennedy Center in Washington, Jordan Hall in Boston, the Wallace Collection in London, the Conde Duque in Madrid, the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen, and other major concert halls throughout Israel, Europe, the United States, Southeast Asia and Australia. As a soloist Ira is a two-time winner of the Ben-Haim Competition, The Israel Conservatory of Music Competition and the Concerto Barocko competition in Germany. Ira is a founding member of the "La Mela di Newton" baroque ensemble. ( U.S.A ), and a member of the "Amber trio" ( Jerusalem). Ira is a member of the contemporary music ensemble Kaprizma.
ira is a graduate of the "outstanding young musicians program" of the Jerusalem music center.
In 2005-06 he was a student of Lawrence Lesser and Vivian and Donald Weilerstein at the New England Conservatory in Boston. Ira graduated his studies with Frans Helmerson at the Musikhochschule Köln, as well as his Baroque Cello and Viola Da Gamba studies with Rainer Zipperling. He is playing on a Collin Mezin cello, lent to him by the America-Israel cultural foundation.
